09-06-2025

On June 5, 2025, the General Assembly of the Council of Bureaux (COB) unanimously adopted a decision to terminate the monitoring imposed on the National Bureau of Bulgarian Motor Insurers (NBBMI). This decision is the result of many years of consistent efforts and the dedicated commitment of the entire Bulgarian insurance market.

With the lifting of the monitoring status, NBBIA has regained its full membership in the COB. The General Assembly revoked all previous sanctions, including:

  • Removal of the requirement to conclude a general reinsurance agreement;
    • Restoration of NBBMI's voting rights in the General Assembly (Green Card);
    • Restoration of the right to participate in working groups and bodies of the COB.

According to the decision, NBBMI will implement an action plan approved by the COB, aimed at strengthening the stability and professional competence of its members. This will ensure stricter compliance with the Internal Regulations of the COB.

The Bureau will continue to maintain the required bank guarantee in the amount of EUR 6 million.

The management of NBBMI expresses its sincere gratitude to all members, employees, and partners for their support, efforts, and consistent work that led to this strategic achievement. Restoring full membership is an important step toward achieving the national objective of joining the Eurozone.

NBBMI remains firmly committed to the highest standards of the Green Card system and will continue working to protect the interests of its members and uphold the reputation of the Bulgarian insurance market.
